My new watercolor series, entitled Primarily Primaries, celebrates farmers and farmer’s markets. This series is intended to underscore the connections people make with farmers at the market. We non-agrarians fundamentally need farmers and the products they produce. Farmers, in turn, need us to buy their locally grown produce and products. Gathering again at these markets, as the pandemic slowly wanes, I find myself savoring the total experience. In the marketplace I feel both the basic and the bold unspoken contact we have with one another. I hope my strong graphic imagery and use of strong mostly primary colors expresses these basic values we all share. Stop into the Pittsboro Gallery of Arts (PGA) to experience these new works.
With this new show, The Pittsboro Gallery of Arts is celebrating it’s First Anniversary. I am proud to have played a role in the successful launch of this new gallery space during a global pandemic. Specifically, we are 30 substantial fine artists and artisans creating our works in Chatham and Orange counties. We share equally in the responsibilities and the privileges of running this art gallery with invaluable street frontage. Our media are diverse and are combined talents, so far, appear boundless – as we band together so we can curate our artworks for the public to enjoy.
The PGA is located in downtown Pittsboro just steps from the courthouse on the circle. Our little town celebrates it’s 250th Anniversary this year as well. There are many people in our small town diligently working to balance rapid growth with Authenticity. You can see many of the moves we are making by visiting Mainstreet Pittsboro . For our part, here at the PGA, I feel we are situated at the epicenter and I see us also rapidly growing and equally balancing Authenticity in our all the works displayed in our gallery. Do stop by and chat a while. There is always an artist on duty!
