A Studio Tour that occurs at year’s end is a fertile time for reflection.
2021 was about discovery.
I discovered I feel most challenged painting people and I love it. I am grateful for the portrait sessions held this year by Jj Jiang at his gallery – Village Art Circle in Cary. The studies on a table in my studio are some of that work. It may take a lifetime to master portraiture, but this is a goal of mine. Wish I could plan to paint people everyday… a dream to put in the hopper for the future.
I discovered how to paint and present my paintings in a retail space. Being part of the Pittsboro Gallery of Arts has helped me focus on painting into a series of work. The Primarily Primaries Series found great success at the gallery this year. I look forward to continuing to both paint from my heart and present focused works in our artist owned gallery… another dream to put in the hopper for the future. Artworks pictured below found new homes in 2021 thanks to the Pittsboro Gallery of Arts.
Most importantly, I re-discovered myself this year. I have found the internal confidence to claim my place as an artist in a community of artists. A vision I set into motion 9 years ago has come to fruition – in ways I could neither have planned nor imagined. Seems if we create visions for our future, and then we let them go, we open up a world of possibilities for our Eden to form around us… a dream NOT in the hopper for the future, but one happening right NOW!
Thank you for taking part in my dream. Thank you for choosing to visit me in my studio during the Chatham Studio Tour these first two weekends in December.
I am so happy you are here!
