Lani earned a B.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University and earned a B.A in Art Education from North Carolina Central University. Knowing there is a divine nexus between people, places and circumstances, Lani makes sure to remain completely open to all styles and every kind of subject matter. “I learn something new from every work of art I create.” It is for this reason you will see so much variety within the catalog of her work.
In addition to paintings of real people, animals, still life, and images from her travels, Lani paints people set in imagined landscapes. This process employs photographs, her own and those from other sources, creatively composed to create original subject matter. All her paintings have a spiritual yet whimsical feel with a unique light-filled palette. She welcomes commission work as well.
Lani maintains a studio and art gallery in her home in Chatham County. She is grateful to have her artwork displayed in the Pittsboro Gallery of Arts. Lani is one of 30 regional artists who are member/owners of this NEW cooperative art gallery just off the circle in downtown Pittsboro. She also enjoys playing an active role as a member of the Chatham Artists Guild.
